Here are some helpful tips before you get to Ireland (and the Castle on an Island!) but please, feel free at any time to reach out to either of us on anything we can help you with or questions you have before the wedding.On this website you will find everything you need to understand the travel, accommodations, and recommendations we have for the trip.We are so excited for you to have made the journey!

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING?We recommend booking flights, accommodations and any transportation early. If you are renting a car, note the earlier you book, the more cost effective it will be. (Please remember driving is on the opposite side in Ireland!)

ARE CHILDREN INVITED?To allow all our guests the opportunity to let their hair down and enjoy themselves, we’ve elected to make our wedding a child-free event except for immediate family!

DO I GET A PLUS ONE?Since we want to keep our wedding as intimate as possible, we can't accommodate plus-ones beyond those named on the wedding invitation.&nbsp;We look forward to seeing you soon!

HOW DO I GET TO WATERFORD?Ireland has two main airports: Dublin Airport or Shannon Airport. Dublin Airport to Waterford Castle: (2-2.5 hours by car). Shannon Airport to Waterford Castle: (2-2.5 hours by car). The best way to get to Waterford is to fly into Dublin, and then either take a bus or train to Waterford. Renting a car is also an option - with any of these modes of transport. We recommend arriving to Waterford and checking into your lodge at Waterford Castle- The Island Resort stay on June 14.(More info regarding travel are in the Travel Tabs!)

HOW DO I GET TO WATERFORD CASTLE?Waterford Castle is on an Island, so there is a ferry from Waterford to the Castle itself. You can either take your car, or take the ferry on foot. It is about a 5 minute journey across the river. The ferry is a 24-hour service. It runs daily to the following schedule: 7am – 11pm every 15 minutes and can be called as needed after hours. Please note after hours may be a longer wait time if calling a taxi and using the ferry - this is why we recommend staying at the island's lodges for the wedding dates.

PASSPORTSPlease double-check the expiration date on your passport to ensure it is valid throughout your entire stay in Ireland. If you plan to extend your travel before or after the wedding, be sure to check the passport requirements for each country you plan on visiting, as they may differ. If you need a passport, please apply at least 6 months before your planned departure date.

GETTING THEREWaterford is about 2 hours from Dublin airport and Shannon airport. For more information about getting to Waterford City&nbsp;<a href="https://visitwaterford.com/getting-here/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">click here</a>. If you arrive to the city by bus or train we recommend using a Taxi, Uber, or FreeNow(Uber like app in Ireland) to get to the castle - cars will use the ferry to cross the river and drop you off at the Castle to check in! The Ferry runs every 15 minutes from 7am - 11pm and can be called as needed after hours. (More info regarding travel are in the Travel Tabs!) ABOUT THE STAY Waterford Castle is a resort located on a small island just off Waterford City, Ireland. The Island can accommodate everyone in the wedding between the castle itself and the Waterford Island Self-Catering Lodges.&nbsp;Please book a lodge for your stay on the island&nbsp;as it will be difficult to get off the island late at night after the wedding!&nbsp;We highly recommend booking for both nights on June 14 and June 15 (with check out on June 16th). The wedding will take place on June 15th.&nbsp;Wedding party and immediate family will be staying in the castle.

ABOUT THE LODGESThey are 3 bedroom lodges, each featuring ensuite contemporary bathrooms per bedroom, a living room with TV, kitchen (fridge, oven, stovetop, microwave, and hot water kettle), complimentary WI-FI, and laundry facilities. Lodge guests breakfast options include: make their own breakfast in their lodge, request breakfast in the castle or Clubhouse on the Golf greens (both for a fee), or travel into Waterford for breakfast.Reserve a room for yourself or with a group (each lodge sleeps up to 6 people) and be a 3 minute walk away from the castle! House of Waterford: Head into Waterford City to visit the Waterford Crystal Factory for Guided factory tours of the high-end crystal makers. Tickets available online. Reginald’s Tower: Head into Waterford City and visit Waterford’s landmark monument and Ireland’s oldest civic building. It has been in continuous use for over 800 years. The first tower on the site was built by Vikings after 914 and formed the apex of the triangular settlement, an area known to this day as the Viking Triangle. The tower now houses an exhibition on Viking Waterford. Tickets available online.

GETTING FROM DUBLIN TO WATERFORDDublin to Waterford can be done in several ways (car, bus, train, or a combination)By Car: Approx 2-2.5 hours. You can rent cars directly from Dublin Airport (Rental Companies: Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz, Sixt, Dooley Car Rentals, Thrifty). By Bus: Bus Companies: Bus Éireann, JJ Kavanagh &amp; Sons, and Dublin Coach Approx 2.5-3 hours. Buses typically depart from Dublin’s Busáras (Central Bus Station) or other designated points in the city. There are also buses that leave directly from Dublin Airport. Buses arrive at various locations in Waterford, including the Waterford Bus Station. Distance from Waterford Bus Station to Waterford Castle: 10-15 min by car or taxi.By Train: Approx 2.5 hours.
